McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Act defines a homeless student as one who lacks "a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence." The term homeless doesn't just mean living on the street or in a shelter. Families who are "doubled-up" due to economic hardship - such as eviction or foreclosure - may also be considered homeless under the federal definition.
If you are a parent of an Eastpointe student and your family is experiencing homelessness, you may contact our district's McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Liaison, Donna Fabian Grossman, at 586-533-3740.
