ECS Board of Education appoints McCain to vacant seat
The Eastpointe Community Schools Board of Education voted unanimously in a special meeting Thursday to appoint Ian McCain to the trustee seat vacated by the recent resignation of former board trustee Cassie Gruenberg.
Seven candidates applied for the vacancy, with five choosing to be interviewed by the Board of Education.
McCain serves as the Economic Development Manager for the City of Eastpointe and is actively involved in the Eastpointe community as a volunteer for Urban Seed, board member of the Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe (RARE), board member of the 8 Mile Boulevard Association (8MBA), and board member of the Detroit Community Wealth Fund.
In his letter of application to the Board, McCain emphasized his priority “to build an inclusive district centering student achievement, with an evergreen commitment to community building.”
McCain will serve the remainder of the term that expires on December 31, 2026.
